Sunny Montagna – Village idyll & vineyards

Montagna enchants with its authentic village charm. Historic walls, narrow streets, and the surrounding vineyards create an atmosphere where everyday life immediately fades away. Walks on the sunny slopes offer breathtaking views of the South Tyrolean lowlands, the Mendel ridge and the rest of the South Tyrolean mountains.

A visit to the local wineries is well worth it: whether Pinot Noir, Caldaro lake, or Gewürztraminer – here you can taste the region’s fine wines right at their source. Those travelling in autumn should not miss the wine-filled tradition of Törggelen: chestnuts, freshly pressed wine, and traditional specialities make every visit a feast for the senses.

Historical treasures & castles

Montagna is surrounded by historical gems and castles that tell stories from centuries:

the striking hill of Castelfeder is much more than just a medieval castle ruin: it reveals an archaeological landscape that dates back to ancient times. Numerous remains, old walls and finds tell of centuries of human settlement.

A walk or short hike up the hill rewards you not only with fascinating insights into history but also with a fantastic panoramic view over the South Tyrolean lowlands – an experience that combines nature, culture, and history all at once.

Just a stone’s throw from the hotel, Enn Castle rises as an impressive landmark. Its architecture and history shape the landscape and enrich the environment sustainably. Although the castle is not open to the public, the sight of it makes every walk or view from the valley a little historical experience.
