From Hotel Tenz you can enjoy the view of the course of the Etsch river and Lake Kaltern, located on the far side of the Etsch. The area around the lake is famed for its light wine from vernatsch grapes.

Lake Kaltern is one of the largest lakes in South Tyrol and the warmest of them. With a water temperature of up to 28 degrees celcius in the summer, its two swimming facilities invite you to take a dip. Or you can hike around the lake! The 7 km hiking trail is very comfortable and offers a plethora of beautiful views. The blue of Lake Kaltern in front of the greens of trees and meadows, with the Dolomites in the background. You'll see: Without Lake Kaltern the holiday region around your hotel and Montan would be half as beautiful.

The lake is only partly used by tourists for rowing, sailing, swimming, etc. The south end of the lake is dominated by picturesque reeds. In spring and fall migratory birds stop here. Illustrated charts posted here explain the biotope along the lakeshore.
